Rebecca Bailey

Rebecca, a Family Law specialist with extensive experience in Family Law, has been practising almost exclusively in the area of family law since 1999, initially as a paralegal and then, following her admission as a solicitor, from 2002. During that time, she has appeared in complex property and parenting cases, acting on behalf of parties and children (as an Independent Children’s Lawyer since 2007), as well as acting as a litigation guardian (appointed for parties who lack capacity). She has appeared in multiple registries of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia in New South Wales, Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory.

She has been operating as a solicitor in the Illawarra since 2005, after relocating from Western Sydney. She was a member and thereafter chairperson of the Family Law Section Regional Liaison Group from 2011 to 2024. She has been a board member of the Wollongong Women’s Centre and a volunteer presenter for various local positive-relationships programs.

She currently operates the Specialist Independent Children’s Lawyer Firm, Big Picture Family Law. 

Outside of work, Rebecca loves spending time with her husband and two daughters and has managed to complete a degree in Environmental Management in (all) her spare time!
